The podcast is aimed at professionals who are short on time, or for anyone who would like to know a bit more about what is REALLY happening out there in the cyber world.
The focus of this podcast will be on the latest cyber events for non-technical people; anyone can listen and understand.
By now everyone in the world are probably familiar with the new virus called Corona that is causing world wide panic.
Last week, Security experts caught hackers in Japan trying to spread malware through emails with links about the corona virus.
This week, Security experts have found phishing emails from cybercriminals purporting to be from the Center for Disease Control in the USA, also known as the CDC. Also, emails supposed to be sent from the World Health Organization have been seen.
The aim of these emails is to try trick the users to enter sensitive email credentials and other information by trying to provide a convincing background story.
Email scammers often try to elicit a sense of fear and urgency in victims. It’s not surprising that they would attempt to incorporate the corona virus into that playbook so quickly, it is known that in conditions of uncertainty people tends to make mistakes and they hope to get lucky.
Several versions of phishing emails have been detected on the wild,
some of them redirect the user to what supposed to look like legitimate web site belong to the cdc and asking them to enter more personal details about them , other types of emails try to convince the user to install and execute apps and files saying they contains important information regarding the cure.
Remember, Phishing emails are meant to trick users to open and execute files they usually wouldn’t do, So if the CDC is sending you an email asking for your help developing a vaccine to he Corona virus or your mail provider ask you to urgently enter a user name and password to get the latest updates about the corona virus its always wise to double check emails received from unknown senders.
Even from known senders , its always recommended to pay attention to the details of the emails.
If you were following the news you could have noticed that during the last year Turkey threatened all the countries surrounding it and also sent many army forces to different conflicts in the middle east.
Naturally, the tension in the region is getting higher as time pass by and more and more incidents between Turkey and its neighbour countries are being made public.
Lately, Turkey started to send troops to Libya which caused Greece to announce they are willing to send troops to fight with the other side.
It hasnt been long since the press release Greece made and Turkey started performing different types of cyber attacks against Greece government and other official institutes.
However, it seems that the attacks were at very low level which resulted in nothing happening, by some reports they were able to deface few web sites and take off line some of the universities websites.
This days when we see state sponsored sophisticated cyber attacks causing real damage with potential for massive amounts of casualties its good to see that some countries didnt developed their cyber abilities to a point they can be used as a game changing weapon.
The cyber attacks claimed by a Turkish hacker group named as the Phoenix’s Helmets.
A statement posted on Facebook, seemingly from the hacker group, said Greece had issued a threat to Turkey over Libya, referring to a summit held related to the attempt to establish a ceasefire among warring sides in Libya.
If you were wondering what is happening in Libya, There is a long civil war backed by several state entities going there for long time.
